Why Allergy Sufferers Must Maintain Clean Carpets

10/7/2018

Studies by the AAFA, or Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, estimates that over 30 million adults and 40 million children have some form of allergies or related sicknesses in the United States.

And yet, the typical household has flooring that only retains more allergens, keeping you and your family sick.

You often can’t achieve the level of cleanliness that you need for your health with typical household cleaning products. Even standard vacuum cleaners seem to send more particles in the air than they should, making it hard to live without symptoms.

That is why it remains crucial to have professional carpet cleaning performed at least once each year (twice is recommended), especially if you or a loved one suffers from allergies, asthma, and other conditions. Otherwise, you just aren’t going to be at your best.

Kill Dust Mites

Unfortunately, if you’re reading this, you already have a dust mite problem. And that isn’t the typical sales pitch threat, either – dust mites thrive inside of homes.

Most people with allergies tend to have their symptoms triggered by dust mites, which are smaller than what the naked eye can see. More specifically, the presence of dust mite droppings is what leaves your body feeling weak.

These pests excel in environments with high humidity and comfortable air temperatures, like your carpets, rugs, and even your beds. By steam cleaning your floors, however, you can eliminate them quickly, at least for a while.

With scheduled carpet servicing, you can reduce the number of mites in your home, helping you breathe easier. Otherwise, they’ll only continue spreading and keeping you sick.

Remove Lingering Allergens

Who doesn’t love opening the windows and doors when the temperature cools down? Unfortunately, once that pleasant breeze wafts in, it’s also bringing with it lingering allergens that remain trapped in carpets and rugs.

Whether it comes in the form of pollen, animal dander, dust, and debris or other potential hazards, most homes have higher levels of air contaminants than you may think. The Environmental Protection Agency says that the typical household in our country has air quality far worse than downtown smog.

When you continually breathe in the items that leave you worse for wear, it makes it challenging to entirely focus on work, family, or anything for that matter. Through steam sanitizing and extraction, you can hope to leave your home cleaner for longer.

You don’t have to keep your house sealed up like a tomb all year when you have the right maintenance services performed. Prepare your home for the cooler seasons now by having carpet cleaning done in your home or building.

Prevent Circulating Dirty Air

Many homeowners struggle in keeping their house tidy. It seems as regardless of how frequently you dust or vacuum, your home remains coated in a layer of dirt.

The reason why, is that you already have contaminated indoor air, and your HVAC systems continue to circulate it throughout your house. While you could hire someone to clean out your air vents, it won’t prevent the issue from recurring.

It will take a concerted effort of scrubbing away allergens from carpet flooring and ventilation to allow you to take a full, clean breath of air. Otherwise, you’re only sending the same germs, allergens, and contaminants into the air and your body.

When you can’t afford to keep calling in sick, sanitizing your house should be the first line of defense. Let us help you clean your carpets, so you can get back to life!

Keep Children Safer

As soon as they can crawl, your kids start exploring every inch of your home. Chances are, you drop everything and begin recording clips of them cruising about your carpets.

Each time they scuttle through your rooms, however, they’re plowing through tons of unseen hazards. And when the body is still developing, it’s even more susceptible to symptom flare-ups and allergens.

The problem becomes even direr if there are people who still smoke inside the house or if there are pets in the household. The added contaminants quickly work together to keep your little ones ill.

When you need to keep your children safe, you should begin with the surfaces that they spend the most time crawling. Cleaner carpets and rugs lead to healthier playtime sessions and bring you peace of mind.

Decrease Asthma Triggers

You never know when your next asthma attack will strike, although you can try and limit when they flare up. Unfortunately, even with regular cleaning and vacuuming, your floors still retain lots of unseen allergens.

Some carpets hold contaminants more than others, while all floors have some degree of pollutants. Even tile, hardwood, and linoleum flooring still have lingering allergens that can contribute to keeping you sick.

However, it’s crucial to understand that not all carpet cleaning companies perform efficiently and effectively enough to keep your symptoms from getting triggered. It’s important to ask if they have any professional certification or training specifically for customers with asthma.

Otherwise, you’re only paying for what is essentially a better vacuuming service. Always do your due diligence before hiring someone for help.

Professionals Use HEPA Filters

At the moment, you likely choose a service provider based solely on price alone. However, there is often a reason why someone is willing to clean your floors for pennies on the dollar.

Unless the company you speak with advertises that their process involves HEPA filters, they likely don’t. Which means that as they clean, they’re only sending the allergens and contaminants from your carpets into the air.

If the equipment they use doesn’t trap what they extract, it isn’t going to help you with your health concerns or at least help prevent them. Only by asking them or selecting a company that advertises that they use HEPA filters, can begin to live free of allergens and decrease the chances of triggering an asthma fit.

In addition to using companies that insist on HEPA filters, you can buy them for your air conditioner system as well for even easier breathing. Trapping airborne dust and debris particles are the first steps to better health and longer-lasting relief.
