Holiday Carpet & Rug Cleaning

For many, the winter season becomes a time of new beginnings, as well as reconnecting with loved ones. Others, however, see it as a nightmare for keeping their homes clean, fresh, and ready for guests.

While you have less plant pollen and animal dander to keep away, you still have mud getting tracked inside. It doesn’t help that snow leaves your rugs soaked, and salt from icy roads makes its way indoors too often.

When you need to clean your floors before holiday guests come to visit, you need to know how to take on each surface hazard. Otherwise, your place has embarrassingly dirty floors and a home that smells musty, making it hard to enjoy the season together.

Of course, most homeowners living in the greater Kalamazoo, MI community know that nothing cleans floors as effectively as KZOO Carpet Cleaning. When you need your surfaces spotless for the holidays, you can always count on us.

Dirty Winter Boots

It's that time fo the year for rain and snow. Once Santa walks through your living room with his winter boots, and back to the chimney, your floors have dirt on them.  Once it dries, it feels next to impossible to pry it away from carpet fibers, leaving you with matted dirt.

One way to mitigate dirt from coming indoors is adding additional floor mats. When you place them outside of entryways, and again before your carpet flooring begins, guests can wipe off more lingering dirt before coming in.

Cleaning mud and dirty winter shoe prints often requires that you carefully blot the area with a moistened towel to try and remove as much as the big stuff as you can. Unfortunately, it’s a time consuming and often back-breaking process, and over broader areas, it can take all day.

You can’t use a vacuum cleaner until all of the loose stuff gets pulled away first. Otherwise, you’ll just grind it in more, leaving permanent blemishes and odors.

Wet Snow Spots

Snow doesn’t last long inside, especially with the fireplace roaring. Once it melts, it takes any dirt and debris stuck to it down into the padding of your floors, creating faded surfaces and smelly rugs.

All moisture that soaks through carpets soon creates odors from trapped bacteria. Unless you immediately dry the area with a towel and follow up with vacuuming and cleaning products, you’re going to develop musty odors soon.

The first step of cleaning moisture from carpets and rugs is drawing out as much liquid as possible with fans and towels. However, if the dampness has already penetrated the padding underneath, you likely aren’t going to get it all by yourself.

Even if you vacuum immediately after blotting away the moisture, you’re left with soaked pads that breed bacteria. It doesn’t take long for the area to begin smelling musty, leaving the entire home feeling dirty and unhealthy.

Road Salts

Black ice continues to make local travel deadly, and as soon as the temperatures plummet, the city begins salting asphalt. While it’s effective at preventing ice from forming on the surface, it also leaves your vehicle and clothes stained with white streaks.

Eventually, salts will chew through your car’s paint job, but that filthy salt compound gets ground into your carpets as well. If you can’t figure out why your living room smells like a drive-through window lane, it’s because the road has come home to roost.

Road salts are not the same as the shaker sitting on your dining room table. They often utilize chlorine-based chemicals that can easily bleach out surfaces, and dark colored carpets are especially susceptible to harm.

It doesn’t take long for dampened road salts to get to work destroying your flooring, clothing, and other fabrics. Even after a few minutes, you could see bright white stains where the color has gotten burned away.

Why Hire a Professional Service?

Winter season flooring hazards are often too potent for your standard vacuum cleaner to handle by itself. Most consumer units only provide enough suction to pull away contaminants from the top of the surface, but they do little for the padding layer.

Because our carpet shampooer uses heated steam extraction, it sanitizes and deodorizes the area as it cleans. The heat eliminates odor-forming bacteria and prevents germs from continuing to spread, leaving your rooms fresher after every cleaning.

Our industrial truck-mounted equipment also allows us the added freedom of navigating through tighter areas and around furniture items, giving you a deeper level of clean faster. Most jobs are completed after one or two hours, quickly cleaning your home before your guests arrive.

The typical homeowner living in the area just doesn’t have the right tools or equipment to handle their carpet cleaning chores alone. For affordable carpet cleaning solutions to all of your floor stains and smells, you can’t beat KZOO Carpet Cleaning.
